Updating to Windows 10 came with
a lot of changes. There were software and programs that needed to be upgraded,
some which completely disappeared while still others that started to get
complicated and needed to be fixed. Somewhere between all three, came Kaspersky.
It seemed as though Windows 10 and Kaspersky were just not made for each other,
and they actually weren’t.
For Windows 10, the 2015 version
of Kaspersky needed to be upgraded to the 2016 version, asit was made for
Windows 10. However, many errors popped up and continue to do so during the
upgrade for many users. The best way to deal with them is to first check the
system date of the computer. It needs to be correct for the update to happen.
If that is okay, check if your computer has internet access. For this, you can
try to access the Kaspersky Lab website.
The next step would be to reset
and recheck your settings for Internet Explorer. Then, make sure the update
servers from Kaspersky Lap are available to you. For this, you can select any
of links present on the server address list. If the download of the server page
is successful, it denotes that you have access to the Kaspersky lab servers.
Also, it is crucial to check if any of the other anti-virus software or
Firewall from third parties installed on your computer are not incompatible to
Kaspersky.
Then, run a scan on the computer
to check for infections and viruses with the help of Kaspersky Virus Removal
Tool, which is free of cost. Follow it up with a complete virus scan by
creating Kaspersky Rescue Disk. Lastly, give reinstalling the product a try.
Not very surprisingly, reinstalling the product has shown to solve many of the
compatibility issues between Windows 10 and Kaspersky.
A common issue among users is
that when a computer is upgraded to Windows 10 from the earlier versions, the
Kaspersky icon disappears from the screen. This may be because Windows Defender
automatically disables it upon upgrade.
The advised, tried and tested formula to deal with this is to uninstall
the version you previously had, while keeping the certificate of registration
and reinstalling Kaspersky. This causes the reappearance of the desktop icon
for Kaspersky and the availability of the “Safe Money” feature. After this, you
may have to reload the websites that you wish to secure.
Sometimes, the icon may not
appear on the screen after the upgrade. In this case, you may find it in the
pop window titled show hidden icons. If
so, you simply have to drag it from the pop window to your screen. It has also become
apparent that Kaspersky Total security does not work with Internet Explorer. In
this case, you can reinstall it again after downloading it and the issue will
be fixed. Another riddle that has been rattling the users is that Safe Money
does not show screenshot protection. In this case, there is a set of
instructions in the following link that may be of help:
